Spring Time In Haida Gwaii
This past winter we had some great storms, cold weather, and snow. We saw the most violent winds in November and December, reaching up to 120km/hr! This energy was transferred into the seas, stirring up the seabed and delivering exciting things onto the beach.
Early spring has already been a welcome sight for us this year. March, we see the arrival of the herring on Haida Gwaii, which in turn brings the sea birds coming together to feed on the herring roe as they lay their eggs on beaches, kelp and rocky outcrops.
This summer is shaping up to be a busy one with lots of people looking to get away and have an adventure! Our four-day tours are booking up particularly quickly this season, and we’re almost fully booked for the busy months. Don’t worry; we still have lots of space for the two-day and Louise Island day trips in May and June. We have also seen considerable demand for kayak transportation this year, so please get your dates in soon if you are hoping to go paddling.
