Tours Are Open!
We have welcomed spring, and it’s great to get back out on the water. It’s incredible how defined the weather on Haida Gwaii is when the seasons change. We’ve seen the frosty morning slowly vanish and the seas calm to gentle swells.
The temperature seems to have stayed relatively low this spring, which is a welcome sign as it aligned with season norms. This weather can make for chilled bones on the boats! Layers are essential, as is a good set of waterproofs. This winter, we went to the next level and tested out some of the gear from Mustang Survival, and believe us, we put them through the wringer! We went out in -15c, travelled in big storms, left them in the back of the van for two weeks soaking wet (hehehe), and gave them a blast with the garden hose. We’re happy to report they stood up to the test, and we have invested in enough for all our guests!
Like many other tourism businesses, the last time we had a “full season” was in 2019. We are incredibly fortunate to have so many of our team members who have stuck with us through this time, keeping our business alive, so it gives us great pleasure to welcome our returning staff back to work and our new members. The level of knowledge needed to become one of our guides is overwhelming. Without core staff, we would simply be unable to run. You can get to know some of them on our Team Page.
